Zadie Smith in conversation

About

Join bestselling and multi-award-winning author Zadie Smith for a live podcast recording of Literary Friction to discuss her first-ever short story collection, 'Grand Union'.

'Grand Union' combines ten completely new and unpublished stories with some of her best-loved pieces from the New Yorker. Moving exhilaratingly across genres and perspectives, 'Grand Union' is an alert and prescient collection about time and place, identity and rebirth. Join us for this exclusive event where Zadie will discuss the themes explored in her writing, as she returns time and time again to the legacies that haunt us and the uncanny futures that rush up to meet us.

Zadie Smith is the author of the novels 'White Teeth', 'The Autograph Man', 'On Beauty', 'NW' and 'Swing Time'. She was listed as one of Granta's 20 Best Young British Novelists under 40 in 2003 and again in 2013. 'White Teeth' won multiple awards including the Whitbread First Novel Award and the Guardian First Book Award. 'On Beauty' was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and won the Orange Prize for Fiction, and 'NW' was shortlisted for the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction. Zadie is currently a tenured professor of fiction at New York University.

Zadie Smith will be in conversation with the hosts of the Literary Friction podcast, Carrie Plitt and Octavia Bright. Literary Friction is a monthly podcast about books and ideas.
