About

A presentation by Dr David Taylor MA, FSA, author of "The Remarkable Lushington Family. Reformers, Pre-Raphaelites, Positivists, and the Bloomsbury Group."

Vernon Lushington was a close friend of Elizabeth Gaskell and visited her often in Manchester. He was a key figure in the pre-Raphaelite Movement and introduced Edward Burne-Jones to Dante Gabriel Rossetti. He also wrote an important essay on the painting "Work" by Ford Madox Brown. David Taylor's talk will explore the relationship between the Lushingtons and the Gaskells in the house in Plymouth Grove where he was a welcome guest.

Join us on Wednesday 20th April 2022 at Elizabeth Gaskell's House for an entertaining evening with refreshments on arrival from 6pm and an opportunity to meet old friends before David's talk begins at 7pm till 8pm with an opportunity for questions afterwards until 8.30pm.
