Join us for an exciting programme of activities at Burton Constable Hall celebrating the Festival of Archaeology 2019.
Featuring a chance to get 'hands on' experience with East Riding Archaeological Society as they carry out geophysical surveys in the grounds of the Hall, walking tours around Capability Brown's landscaped parkland, short talks by our curator, this is a unique opportunity to discover more about the hidden history of this key seat of power in the heart of Holderness.
Families will find plenty to keep them busy with a miniature dig pit, trails around the grounds and hall, storytelling, colouring activities and much more!
Saturday 13th, Sunday 14th, Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th July - East Riding Archaeological Society will be surveying the deserted Medieval Village of Burton Constable in the North Park. Hands-on Geophysical Survey Sessions and Object Handling Sessions from 11am-4pm each day.
Sunday 14th, Wednesday 24th & Sunday 28th July - Capability Brown Parkland Tours - Join one of our expert guides on a journey of discovery around the historic grounds and parkland at Burton Constable Hall. Tour departs from the entrance to the hall at 2pm and takes approx 1 hour. Please note the route is along gravel paths that may be uneven in places and is weather dependent, please wear sensible footwear. Free with normal admission charges.

'Revealing Burton Constable's Lost Village' - Join the Burton Constable Hall's Curator as she gives a short talk on the deserted medieval village at Burton Constable with opportunity for a Q&A session at the end. 1.30pm & 3.30pm each day in the Brewhouse.
Object Handling with Burton Constable's Curator - 2.30pm each day in the Great Hall. Included with the normal Hall admission charges.
Children's Storytelling Tuesday 23rd July 11.30am and 2pm - Brewhouse
Sunday 21st, Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th July - children's activities in the Brewhouse, including a dig pit and activity sheets 1pm - 3pm (included with the normal admission charges)
