On Saturday 22nd September, Cardiff University will open the doors to some of its most iconic and interesting buildings, as part of the Civic Trust for Wales' Open Doors initiative. The exteriors may be familiar to many and this event will offer a rare chance to look inside, explore their history and find out more about the University's research.

The Main Building, Glamorgan Building and Civic Centre tours will be run by professional tour guide, Jim Cowan (Cardiff History and Hauntings). Join Jim to discover the histories and secrets of some of Cardiff's most well-known buildings and parks.

Tour times:
11:00- 12:00: Civic Centre Tour
13:00- 14:00: Cardiff University Main Building and Glamorgan Building tour
14:30- 15:30: Cardiff University Main Building and Glamorgan Building tour

There will be a Rare Books Visit whereby you can have a look at one of Wales' oldest book collections which includes over 14, 000 rare and antiquarian books as well as hear about the University's latest conservation and digitisation projects.

12:00-13:00: English language tour
13:00- 14:00: Welsh language tour

*Please meet at the reception desk at Main Building 15 minutes before the tour start time, from where visitors will be guided to the University library.

There will also be a One Day Pop-up Museum - explore our intriguing and surprising history and research through rare and fascinating exhibits and objects from across the University. What crucial piece of medical equipment was developed in Cardiff? What does NASA order from the School of Physics and Astronomy? How can city planning be a fun game?

This event is free and open to all but prior booking is required for the tours and rare books visit - please email publicbookings@cardiff.ac.uk to reserve a place.
