About

A guided tour of Prehistoric monuments, caves, Bronze Age burials, Neolithic tombs and Arthur’s Stone.

Elizabeth Walker will lead a guided tour of some of the impressive Prehistoric burial monuments and talk about some of the Prehistoric activity in the caves on Gower. The tour will start at Parkmill where there will be a visit to Cathole Cave and to the Parc le Breos Cwm Neolithic tomb in the valley below. The tour will then move on to Rhossili where it will head up onto Rhossili Down to see one of the Bronze Age barrow cemeteries in which Gower is rich. A walk along the Down will take the group to the Neolithic tombs of Sweynes Howe and then back through the Second World War radar station before returning to the bus. The final stop will be to the impressive Arthur’s Stone and the Great Cairn from where, if the weather is good, there will be impressive views across the North Gower coast.

Bus will be provided, please bring a packed lunch and drink. Walking boots should be worn as you will be walking over rough and uneven ground and bring full waterproofs as the Welsh weather can be unpredictable.

The bus will leave the Museum 08.30am and return to Cardiff by 19.00pm.
