Summer opera is not complete without a delightful picnic and you are invited to bring your own packed basket of goodies to enjoy on hall's terrace during the interval.
Puccini's tragic story of passion, lust and power set in Rome in 1800 at the time of the Napoleonic wars. The celebrated opera singer Floria Tosca fights to protect her lover, the painter Cavaradossi who has been arrested for aiding an escaped political prisoner. Chief of Police Scarpia who is in love with Tosca, offers to spare Cavaradossi's life in exchange for her love. Surrender to Scarpia or lose her lover? Tosca must decide.

The Details
The main gates will open from 5.30pm and parking will be available in front of Holkham Hall. The gate to the West Terrace will be open from 5.30pm if you'd like to set up your picnic table. You will need to bring your own picnics, rug or tables and chairs with you. If the weather is bad, an indoor venue will be available for picnics. Doors will open at 6pm and the performance starts at 7pm. The performance will last for around 3 hours, with a 1 hour interval for picnics. Dress code is smart or black tie.
