Hylands Estate is a prestigious Grade II* listed public park set within 574 acres of historic parkland. At its heart stands the beautifully renovated Neo-Classical Hylands House, available to hire for weddings, celebrations, and business events, and open to the public on select days.
Built almost 300 years ago, Hylands House and its gardens have long been a major attraction. Over time, each owner left their mark, extending and remodelling the house and grounds to reflect the fashions of the day. Originally just 100 acres, the estate expanded to some 4,300 acres by the mid-1800s. Today, the 574-acre estate remains open for everyone to explore.
The Stables host a café, second-hand bookshop, information point, and artist studios. Visitors can enjoy formal Victorian gardens, ancient woodlands, and an award-winning accessible children’s Adventure Playground. Seasonal events take place throughout the House and Park, making Hylands Estate a perfect destination year-round.
Open Estate Days are held every second Sunday of the month, from 10am to 3pm, while the estate itself is always available for visitors to explore at their leisure. Discover the history of Hylands House through monthly exhibitions in the library and guided tours.
Outside the House, a street food market offers delicious bites, handmade gifts, and freshly baked goods from local traders. Meanwhile, the vibrant Artist Studios in The Stables welcome visitors to browse works by local artists, designers, and makers, with live music in the courtyard provided by Hot Box Live.
Access to the parkland at Hylands Estate is free. Please see here for more information: https://hylandsestate.co.uk/visitor-information/#explore-admissions
