Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre has an exciting series of informative talks coming up, with four engaging talks featuring historians and authors.

The first takes place this Sunday (9 October) at 2.30pm, when archaeologist Peter Liddle presents a fascinating talk on the Rutland Roman Villa Project, which at the time of its discovery was noted by the BBC as “The most important Roman mosaic discovery in a century”. Peter will discuss the 2020 excavations of the high-status Roman villa, which revealed the most spectacular mosaic pavement showing the story of Hector and Achilles at the siege of Tory and the villa in whose main room it lay.

Best-selling author Alison Weir returns to Bosworth on Friday 11 November at 7pm to give an exciting talk centred on book six in her Six Tudor Queens series - ‘Katherine Parr- the last of Henry’s queens’. Alison will recount the extraordinary story of a woman forced into a perilous situation and rising heroically to the challenge.

On Sunday 11 December, Dr Nicola Tallis will be discussing her latest publication ‘All the Queen’s Jewels 1445-1548’. Her book uncovers the fascinating history of the jewels and jewellery worn by 10 Queen consorts and their significance as an explicit display of wealth and authority. This talk is perfect for anyone interested in medieval and Tudor history, queenship and material culture.

Ending the series and with the aim of getting you in the festive spirit, will be best-selling author Toni Mount on Sunday 18 December at 2.30pm. She will explore the origins and traditions of the medieval Christmas in this entertaining, illustrated talk ‘The Medieval Christmas’.

Tickets for all talks are available at www.bosworthbattlefield.org.uk/whats-on/ or by phoning 01455 290429 between 10am - 4pm.

All talks will be followed by an opportunity for questions and answers and there will also be books for sale, as well as the opportunity for your books to be signed.

Alongside these daytime talks, why not visit the award-winning exhibition where you can explore the Battle of Bosworth, the death of King Richard III and the unlikely victory of Henry Tudor, as well as guided walks and the 1485 Tithe Barn café.  These additional activities are not included in the ticket price for each talk.
