Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture and takes place in September every year. This year, the event will run from 9th – 18th September, giving you plenty of opportunities to experience seldom seen and hidden heritage locations across the nation. The best bit? Every event organised under Heritage Open Days is free to attend!

In Birmingham, there are a host of events being planned including a chance to kayak along the city’s famous canals, touring a whistle factory, have a go at bell ringing and more. Among the plans for Heritage Open Days, there are more than 150 walks, talks and tours taking place from 9th September. In addition, every museum in the city will be offering free entry and special events.

Visitors will also have the rare chance to visit a number of faith centres in the city, including Birmingham Central Mosque, a Jewish synagogue and a Quaker meeting house.
