Between 1st and 5th September, Lambeth Heritage Festival will be taking place with over 50 events to showcase the diverse history and heritage of the area and its residents.

Organised by Lambeth Archives and the Lambeth Local History Forum, the festival celebrates the diverse history of Lambeth, from the contemporary to the older and will be focussing on some of the lesser known parts of the borough’s heritage. Most of the events are free and include talks, films, author events, theatre performances and more.

You can find the full programme on the Lambeth Heritage Festival website, where you can also book events. Many of the events will require prebooking, while others are open to anyone to turn up.

Some of the events include:

4th September
The Lambeth Local History Fair
10am – 4.30pm, St Mark’s Church, Kennington
Traditionally the opening of the whole Festival, there is no need to book and features a host of events and workshops throughout the day.

4th – 5th September
Open Afternoon at the Museum
10.15am – 4.30pm, Florence Nightingale Museum
Discounted entry as part of the festival.

5th September
History of Clapham Common
2.30pm, Clapham Common
A walk tracing the history of the common.
