Call for volunteers to welcome visitors to Bath’s new World Heritage Centre

A call has gone out for volunteers to welcome visitors to the new City of Bath World Heritage Centre, which will open later this year in York Street.
The Centre is looking for friendly volunteers who are passionate about the World Heritage Site and have at least three hours to spare each fortnight.

Activities will include:

• Welcoming visitors to the World Heritage Centre and helping them to explore the activities and displays
• Inspiring people to go out and discover Bath using trails, guides and an exciting new mobile app
• Explaining why Bath is so special and what makes it a World Heritage Site

Councillor Dine Romero, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Communities and Culture at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Volunteers at the World Heritage Centre will meet both local residents and visitors from around the world, and share their knowledge of the city they love. They will receive full training and become part of a friendly team, welcoming the first visitors to Bath’s brand-new heritage attraction when it opens later this year.”

Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the World Heritage Centre will give people a chance to find out what makes Bath so special. It will inspire them to go out and explore the buildings, landscapes and history that make Bath a World Heritage Site: namely its Roman remains, hot springs, 18th-century architecture, 18th-century town planning, the landscape setting of the city, and the way in which Bath's Georgian architecture reflects 18th-century social ambitions.
