A beautiful Grade II listed building 'Bank Barn' has been sympathetically converted into a first class wedding venue with capacity for approximately 150 seated guests. Original features such as bare stone walls and an open beamed oak ceiling, together with contemporary lighting, stylish décor and large glass doors, make it a truly unique setting for your wedding reception all year round.
A variety of catering options are available, utilising locally sourced produce, grown and reared at Askham Hall itself and on the family estate. Tables, chairs, linen, crockery, cutlery and glasses are provided.
You may decorate the venue as you wish. A variety of florists, hair and make-up stylists, dressmakers, photographers, cake makers, music bands and other services can be recommended.
We are licensed for civil ceremonies, both in the barn for larger parties at weekends, in the main house for smaller parties, as well as the outdoor pavilion (weather permitting) and medieval hall.
St. Peters Church, Askham is located a stone's throw from the venue. A romantic walk takes you from the church through the gardens and onto the wedding barn. Thirteenth century St. Michael's Church with its strong family connections, overlooking Askham Hall, the River Lowther and with views of Lowther Castle, is also close by.
Found on a family-owned ‘living’ estate, we are a collection of unique places to eat, drink and sleep on the edge of the Lake District.
Stay with us and we’ll share our unspoilt landscape, our wild and farmed produce and our local knowledge with you. Take time to refocus, re-energise and reconnect – experience our changing seasons and enjoy food, wine and art inspired by our sense of place.
The Askham Collection is deeply rooted in, and connected to, the land around us. As the current custodians, it is our pleasure to welcome you to share in them, and for the time that you’re here, to call them home.
Whilst you are with us – discover what we love about this place on the edge of the Lakes. Don your wellies, walking boots or running shoes and catch a fish, run up a fell, relax with a treatment or soak up the surroundings with a hand-picked glass of wine.
