You will produce: a uniquely painted creation, a perfect gift that will be food safe and dishwasher safe. It will be clear glazed and fired in our kiln.

Level: All abilities and ages welcome, children under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Further details: Di Trudgeon and Kim Hopewell, our Cornish speaking volunteers at Wheal Martyn, will be hosting a monthly opportunity for Cornish speakers of all abilities to learn some new phrases or engage in fluent conversations in the Wheal Martyn café. 

Anyone new to speaking Cornish is also encouraged to come along and take their first steps in learning this celebrated language, with the assistance of our friendly and passionate Cornish speaking volunteers.

Further details: Funds raised will go towards supporting the Wheal Martyn Trust’s charitable work. This includes caring for and making the museum collection accessible to all, and for providing educational opportunities within our communities.

Summary: A ceramic painting workshop where your inner artist is nurtured and supported as you learn more about different glazing techniques.

Further details:  Create a ceramic piece to be proud of. We have a range of beautiful ceramic bisqueware to choose from including Christmas decorations too. Make the perfect present for a loved one or yourself!

Equipment & materials: Glazes and equipment included and earthenware bisque provided at additional cost. You may wish to bring along an apron.

You will produce: a uniquely piece that will be food safe and dishwasher safe. It will be clear glazed and fired in our kiln.

Level: All abilities. We strongly believe everyone is artistic. Age 12+

Summary: Learn the fascinating history behind Charles Rashleigh, Charlestown and china clay at this informative talk.

Title: Will Keating Candlelit Concert Tour 2023

Summary: Join us for an evening with Cornish folk star Will Keating alongside a special guest.  

Further details:  Award winning singer-songwriter Will Keating, also one of the members of popular Cornish male singing group The Oggymen, has wowed audiences far and wide since embarking on a solo career in 2017. Two sold-out headline performances at the iconic Minack Theatre, in 2020 and 2021, cemented his reputation as one of Cornwall's stand-out performers.

His passion for his county shines through in his music, but also in the venues he chooses for his concert tours. He will be performing to communities in hamlets, villages, and towns across the Duchy with a final stop at Wheal Martyn on Thursday 7 December.

Title: Festive Fun Day and Father Christmas

Summary: Dress up in your festive finery for a fun filled day full of Christmas activities, meet Father Christmas, wreath-making, clay decorations and more!

Further details: Come and explore the museum and woodland trails for a discounted entry fee of £5.00 for adults and £3.00 for children to celebrate the festive season. There will be lots of activities on offer, including wreath-making and clay decorations.

We are incredibly excited that Father Christmas and his elf will be joining us for the day and sharing a special Christmas story!

Activities will include making Elf and Reindeer crowns and Cornish Christmas cards, getting creative with clay decorations, conjuring up a Christmas wand, being spellbound by a festive Cornish story, exploring the sensory Reindeer Trail, tapping your feet to the tunes of the local band and choir, and popping along to the Christmas craft table! All donations gratefully received.

After all the fun and action, pop in to the café for a festive treat and relax with a cup of something warm and one of our homemade cakes.
