About

Get hands-on with gadgets at Beaulieu this February half-term!

From the 11th – 19th of February, visitors can join us for the chance to discover incredible devices and amazing inventions as they explore the Beaulieu attraction.

BECOME A MECHANIC!
Pop down to Jack Tucker's Garage in the National Motor Museum. Pull on some overalls, don your flat cap and learn about life as a country mechanic in Jack's 1930s garage, where there's plenty of bolts, nuts and artefacts to tinker with!

DISCOVER CURIOUS INVENTIONS
Step back in time at Palace House, the historic home of the Montagu family. See fascinating 19th Century gadgets in action, still used by the Victorian house staff – who bid you a friendly welcome! Spot the marmalade shredder, the carpet sweeper and the tongue press… and learn all about these unusual artefacts!

CRAZY CONTRAPTIONS
Little Beaulieu is the place to get hands-on with crazy contraptions, as part of this enchanting play area. Peer through the telescope, call down through the fun funnel speaker, and play a tune on the melodic xylophone chimes.

SECRETIVE GADGETS
In the Secret Army Exhibition, learn about the extraordinary Special Operations Executive agents that trained on the Beaulieu Estate during World War II. See their clever cryptic gadgets, from a hidden radio inside a biscuit tin, to a map carefully folded inside a shaving brush!

WALK IN MONKS' FOOTSTEPS
Walk in the footsteps of monks at Beaulieu Abbey, who lived there more than 800 years ago. Learn all about the 13th Century abbey, see how it was built and admire the beautiful stone arches. You can even put your masonry skills to the test – and have a go at building one yourself!
