Gorton may not really have a sea, but it DOES have lots of fun, hopefully some sun, and REAL donkeys!

The Monastery in Gorton invites families from across Manchester and beyond to a joyful Summer Family Fun Day on Sunday, 27 July 2025, from 10am to 4pm. This free, all-ages event offers a lively and inclusive celebration of community, heritage, and seasonal cheer.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions including donkey rides (advance booking required), a traditional children's funfair, a vintage bus, live music, arts and crafts, face painting, and a diverse array of stalls from local makers and community groups. Tombola, raffles, and interactive activities will run throughout the day, ensuring there's something for everyone—from toddlers to grandparents.

Located within the stunning surroundings of the historic Monastery building, this summer celebration is the perfect opportunity for families to relax, connect, and make memories together. The event is free to attend, though voluntary donations to the Monastery Charitable Trust are welcomed to support the upkeep and ongoing restoration of this treasured grade II* national heritage site and cherished community space.
