Families are invited to take part and join in with the living history event. Come and see how people lived in Tamworth during Anglo-Saxon times, test your skills in the sword school, see how Saxon armour was made in an authentic Saxon forge and used on the battle field.
Expand your knowledge of Tamworth's history and take your Saxon weekend experience to the next level by checking out the Castle's Battle & Tribute Saxon Exhibition, see items of the Staffordshire hoard, and learn about the Aethelflaed the incredible 'Lady of the Mercians'.
During the Saxon period, Tamworth was the capital of the Kingdom of Mercia. The town's rich history will be celebrated through a live living history encampment located in the Castle Grounds on the 10th and 11th June.
