Welcome to the 60s, where everyone’s grooving to a brand-new sound! Enter Tracy Turnblad, with big hair, big heart, and big dreams to dance her way onto national TV. On her journey to become accepted, Tracy befriends Link Larkin the teen idol, Seaweed, Little Innez and Motormouth Maybelle who stand with her to fight intolerance, bigotry and racism as they strive to bring unity to the city of Baltimore. Can the new girl in town help win equality and Link Larkin’s heart?
