Curious About Southampton? Let the Adventure Begin!

Looking for a fun, affordable way to explore Southampton—rain or shine, young or old? Step into the city’s story with two quirky self-guided walks that double as treasure hunts! Whether you're a family on a weekend outing, friends seeking something different, or solo explorers with a curious streak, this is your ticket to discovering Southampton’s magic at your own pace.

What’s the Experience Like?

- Follow easy maps and directions
- Solve clues (answers included!)
- Learn fascinating facts about Southampton’s past and the people who shaped it
- Get ideas for things to see and do along the way
- Choose a printed booklet or instant download (use on up to 3 devices or print at home)

Walk 1: Heritage Walk - 1.5 miles / 2.4 kms
From Dancing Man Brewery (formerly a Maritime Museum) with its stunning views of the Solent, you soon reach Southampton’s city walls, one of the best preserved historical attractions in the UK. Soak up the atmosphere of an important port, dotted with picturesque houses of once wealthy merchants. See a church dating back a millennium, and a gorgeous 15th century Tudor house, before ending at Bargate, a fabulous portal to Southampton’s wealth.

Walk 2: A Walk in The Parks - 1 mile / 1.6 kms
From the magnificent Bargate, and more of Southampton’s ancient walls, you quickly arrive at the glorious central parks, which give Southampton its unique ‘green’ feel. Past children playing and adults lazing, you arrive at the stunning Civic Centre, before ending your walk back in the parks, amongst stately statues, perfumed flowers, and spectacular shrubs. Time for a picnic perhaps?

Explore Southampton for less than the cost of a cinema ticket! Use code List20 at checkout for 20% off any of our 80+ Curious About locations. Closest Walks are: Winchester, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Chichester and Reading, or why not strike out to one or more of our 5 London Walks – Covent Garden, Soho, Trafalgar Square, St Pauls and Mayfair.

Wheelchair and buggy accessible (small diversions may be necessary). Great in sunshine or drizzle. Go at your own pace, whenever you fancy.
