About

The brightest time of the year will soon be upon us, and Leicester will be transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland.

The city's streets will be illuminated with over 16,000 sparkling lights and a spectacular 52-foot tree, with 2,000 twinkling pea lights and 900 baubles , will take centre stage at the Clock Tower.

Due to popular demand the real ice rink will be back in Jubilee Square. The rink will have a clear roof so skaters can show off their best moves come rain or shine, plus a new feature this year is an outdoor ice trail. The Jubilee Square experience is crowned by the magnificent Wheel of Light soaring above the skaters giving people the best view of the city's lights.

After its huge success with families last year, the enchanting snow-covered Santa's Christmas grotto returns to New Market Square. Children of all ages can visit Santa and his elf for free and receive a small gift to make this a truly magical experience. Also on New Market Square will be Bid Leicester's interactive exhibiton: Lightweight - a giant inflatable sphere with amazing colours and imagery, featuring the faces of you and your friends!

Fantasy lovers will be enchanted by this year’s Woodland Tales Christmas tableau in Town Hall Square, along with the traditional nativity scene.
