An Introduction to Wood Carving: two-day weekend course

About

Learn the basics of wood carving, from gaining an understanding of tool sharpening to the fundamental skills of chip-carving or shallow relief carving.

With expert advice from a professional tutor, this 2-day weekend course will give you the opportunity to run through the basics of tool sharpening and care.
Beginners will design and carve a chip carved panel, chip carving is a traditional technique used to create decorative surfaces drawing intricate designs with limitless possibilities. Intermediate carvers will carve a naturalistic leaf in low relief.

Aimed at adult beginners or those with some previous experience of wood carving. All materials and tools required for the course will be provided. Wear sensible clothes suitable for mess, and comfortable, sturdy footwear. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you wish to discuss any additional access needs.
