Castle House is a boutique city hotel, owned by a local farming family, situated just yards from the historic cathedral of Hereford. The hotel has 24 individually designed luxury rooms and suites, eight of which are a few steps away in a separate townhouse, Number 25. All the rooms and suites are exceptionally comfortable, fresh and original without being minimalist.
In the main hotel, the décor is bold, with tapestries, paintings and filled with fresh flowers while the rooms in Number 25 have a more contemporary design. Bathrooms are all en-suite and decorated with marble and wood. Hereford is steeped in history, having been the old capital of Mercia. The cathedral’s famous Mappa Mundi, Chained Library and signed Magna Carta are within walking distance, as are the main shops and new shopping complex. Ideal also for small intimate wedding parties. The hotel is also available for exclusive use.
DINING At the helm of the hotel’s award- winning restaurant is Head Chef Gabor Katona. His seasonal menus include a Five-course Tasting Menu offering the best of contemporary British cuisine using local ingredients, some grown on the owner’s Ballingham Hall farm.
