You are here: Hudson's > Mrs Hudson Says... > Mrs Hudson says | Celebrate Mother’s Day with thes
Every month, Mrs Hudson along with her three children and Dinky the Irish Wolfhound investigate the best family and dog friendly heritage attractions that the UK has to offer.
Ahh, Mother’s Day, the most important day of the year in my book! I am thankfully very lucky that my three children know this and take the day very seriously. In the past, they have talked me into spending the weekend paddleboarding in Cambridge and always (with the help of Mr Hudson of course!) present me with thoughtful gifts and messages.
This year, my Mother’s Day activities are very hush hush (I’m trying not to be too worried about this!) but if you’re looking for some inspiration for things to do with the whole family this Mother’s Day, here are my suggestions.
If your mum is anything like me and mine, they will love an Afternoon Tea, especially if it is somewhere picturesque, so if you’re in Norfolk, make sure to book Holkham Hall’s Afternoon Tea, which is taking place in the Lady Elizabeth Wing. Not only that but the rest of the estate will be open too, so you can spend some time in Holkham Park and the woodland play area.
Another option for Afternoon Tea is at Bletchley Park. Famous for being the home of code breakers during WWII, Bletchley Park will be transformed back to how it was in yesteryear especially for Mother’s day. Enjoy a delightful tea alongside entertainment from Alison Carter. Plus, the price of your Afternoon Tea also gives you entry into Bletchley Park itself.
Why not spend some time together exploring somewhere new? Stansted House in Hampshire is hosting guided tours for Mother’s Day this year. As it’s a special day, you’ll get to enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival before you set off, plus mums go free!
Or why not see another side of Manchester with a Mother’s Day Cruise from Salford Quays? As well as a chance to sight see around Manchester’s famous canals, you can also enjoy cake and fizz as part of the trip!
Is your mum a creative at heart? Why not give her a chance to show off her artistic side with Sherwood Forest’s Mother’s Day Watercolour Workshop? Whether they are a beginner or an experienced painter, there is something for everyone at this workshop led by artist David Evans.
Or perhaps your mum is a baker? In which case, heading to this cookie decorating class might be more her thing.
Whatever your mum is into, you can find a host more inspiration for a fun day out here.
