Thanks to its diverse culture, Britain has one of the most unique cuisines in the world. Featuring flavours from all over the world introduced throughout the centuries as well as a number of dishes that are uniquely ours, you’re never too far from a tasty and refreshing meal.  

Heritage dishes 

If you’re visiting the UK for the first time, there are a number of dishes you need to sample while you’re here. Being an island, there is some incredible seafood, particularly in places like Brixham in Devon and Billingsgate in London where you can find heritage fish markets. Speaking of London, it is where fish and chips and pie and mash originated, both British staples. The braver among you can sample some Jellied Eels in the city’s East End and no trip to the south west is complete without a slice of Dorset Apple Cake and a pint of cider.  

In Wales, you’ll need to sample Welsh Cakes, Glamorgan Sausages and of course, a plate of Rarebit, while in Scotland, you’ll need to sample Haggis, particularly on Burns Night. Everywhere in UK there are heritage dishes, so whatever region you visit, you’ll find a unique treat to tempt your taste buds!
