Many of Britain’s castles have been featured on screen, appearing in films and television shows for years. Eilean Donan Castle for example featured in Highlander and The World is Not Enough, while High Clere Castle is instantly recognisable as Downton Abbey.  

Most haunted 

Britain’s castles are some of the most supposedly haunted places in the country. Whether it’s just the cold atmosphere from the stone battlements or the grizzly histories of some of the more besieged buildings, there are always spine tingling tales to hear.  

Berry Pomeroy Castle in Devon is reportedly the most haunted castle in England, while Glamis Castle in central Scotland holds the title there. Many of the castles in the UK are home to ghost stories and spooky sightings – so keep your eyes peeled when visiting!
