Join archaeologist Rosey Thornber on a tour of the lower sections and some backstage areas of HMS Victory, to examine marks left by shipwrights that give clues of the repairs to the ship.
Explore the secret language of the shipwright and learn more about how Victory was built, refitted and repaired over hundreds of years. The marks offer a tangible link between the conservation being undertaken today and the generations of skilled workers that came before.
Warning: some dark, small and interesting spaces will be explored!
Space is limited so advance booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. Please note, booking this event does not include general entry to the museums or ships. A valid ticket is required to visit these areas. Participants in this tour must be 16 years or older.
On the day, enter the dockyard and then make your way to HMS Victory Live: The Big Repair. Please allow time for security checks and to walk from the main gate to the ship.
Free to attend but advance booking strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
