The collections team at the National Museum of the Royal Navy is offering up an extra special chance to see the Armada Maps - which are so precious and fragile they can only be on display for short periods of time, so these opportunities are extremely limited.
The maps are a contemporary window into some of the most significant events of the famously ill-fated invasion attempt and give an impressive level of insight into the fleet formations, routes and battles that took place.
This Heritage Open Days event offers a rare opportunity to see some of them close up, learn more about their historical significance, and find out more about the care and conservation of these incredible artefacts.
Places are very limited so advance booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. Please note, booking onto this event does not include entry into the museums or ships. A valid ticket is still required to visit them.
On the day visitors should make head to the National Museum of the Royal Navy main reception and shop found in Storehouse 11, opposite HMS Victory. Be sure to leave time for security checks and to walk to the museum from the main entrance.
Free to attend but advance booking strongly recommended. Please note, booking only gives you access to this event - a valid ticket is required for entry to the museums and ships.
