Join SS Great Britain for their February Half-Term Event: Mr Brunel's Big Day Out!
This February half term, visitors are invited to experience a day filled with adventure, inspired by one of the greatest engineers of all time. Whether tackling hands-on challenges as Brunel’s apprentice, uncovering his achievements in the Being Brunel museum, or meeting the man himself for an interactive talk on board the ship, there is something for every curious young explorer.
Brunel’s Apprentice Challenge
Do aspiring engineers have what it takes to follow in Brunel’s footsteps? They can put their problem-solving and imagination skills to the test by following a map and using Brunel’s instructions to complete each activity. Apprentice satchels can be collected from the Visitor Centre to begin the adventure.
Curiosity Quest
Hands-on interactives in the Being Brunel museum allow visitors to uncover stories about the great engineer and his remarkable projects. A Curiosity Quest fortune teller will be available on the day, or it can be downloaded in advance to start exploring early.
Design and Build
Brunel created daring tunnels, elegant bridges, and the magnificent SS Great Britain. Now, visitors can take on the challenge of designing their own masterpiece with Brunel’s Brick Building. What new invention will be imagined? The Viridor Theatre awaits.
Meet Mr Brunel
Mr Brunel himself will be on board the SS Great Britain for an interactive talk, sharing the incredible stories behind his greatest inventions. Visitors will discover how he changed the world with seemingly impossible ideas and will have the opportunity to ask him questions.
