Austen's Southampton - Jane Austen Walking Tours

About

Discover Jane Austen’s Southampton with a specially curated walking tour in Southampton’s historic Old Town. Discover the locations that influenced Austen’s life and writing, including her family home, the bustling fish market, and the hotel where she celebrated her 18th birthday. This circular tour offers you a unique glimpse into the life of one of the World’s most celebrated authors.

Your ticket will also give you access to our permanent exhibition The Stories Behind the Stones which shines a light on GHT’s dark past, from its creation as a purpose-built gun tower, to its eery time as one of England’s most dismal jails, and its present-day reincarnation as an Arts and Heritage Venue.

These tours are led by a team of friendly and knowledgable volunteers who are all accredited white badge guides supported by the Institute of Tourist Guiding and they can’t wait to share their knowledge with you.

Comfy shoes are recommended, as well as clothing for all weathers!
