Art Demonstration

Waterside Art Group, based in Hythe, is pleased to announce that it has organised an exciting 2020 programme of demonstrations by professional artists to which everybody is invited, including visitors. All meetings take place at Hythe and Dibden Community Centre off Jones Lane in Hythe.

The new season kicks off with a demonstration in oils by artist Jerry Smith. His subject is "Painting a rural landscape, discussing colour theory, mixing and aerial perspective". Whether or not you actually use the medium of oils, the principles apply to a great extent to all media so do come along to learn from Jerry's teaching. The demonstration will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday 25th February and the visitor fee is £4.00.

Jerry trained in art at Portsmouth and subsequently worked in video games followed by running his own creative media business. Nowadays he is inspired by his local area of the Meon Valley and is drawn to the subtle light and shadows cast across the rural landscape. His repertoire is also influenced by visits to other areas of the British Isles, especially Cornwall, the Lake District and the Isle of Skye. Jerry's website is:

All demonstrations at Waterside Art Group are projected onto a large screen, enabling all of the audience to easily see the painting as it develops, as well as providing the facility for showing enlarged details.
