Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and stately home of the Digby family since 1617. Sherborne Castle presents glorious staterooms displaying nationally important collections of Art, Furniture & Procelain. In the Castle's cellars view Raleigh's kitchen, and a Museum presenting fascinating family artefacts, Fossil & Archive displays and a 'Capability' Brown exhibition drawn from the archives tells of his impact and legacy on the Garden.

The fabulous Grade 1 listed Garden is a must see for all arborists, horticulturalists and anyone who appreciates a lake landscape. Paths and trails lead you through 30 acres of Gardens and Pleasure Grounds commanding spectacular vews of more than 1,000 acres of lake and parkland.

The Castle is a perfect place to 'escape', and enjoy the timeless tranquillity of the beautiful lakeside gardens. Enjoy morning coffees, light lunches and afternoon teas in our award winning Tea Room. The Gift shop has a selection og gifts, souvenirs and Sherborne Castle wine.

There is a public events programme in the open season.

Suitable for the Disabled: access to the ground floor of the Castle where a slide show runs showing the inaccessible rooms. The Gardens are accessible in part. There are disabled WCs.

Private guided tours and self-guided tours for groups of 15 or more are available for pre-booking.

Dogs should be kept on leads.
