About

Temple Newsam is home to one of the finest historic houses in Yorkshire where you can explore 500 years of history through 40 rooms filled with decorative art treasures. The house is brought to life by telling the stories of the people who lived and worked there, through all art forms including digital, music, theatre and fine art. The collections show how the house was used as a family home, which was once birthplace to Lord Darnley, notorious husband of Mary Queen of Scots.

Meet the child friendly animals down at Home Farm and experience the charm of this traditional working rare breed farm as piglets and chickens run free in the yard. Wander through the historic cobbled yards and outbuildings and find out what life was like down at the farm. On special event days enjoy traditional crafts, activities and demonstrations for all the family to enjoy.

Get a little closer to nature and wander through 1500 acres of scenic parkland, gardens and marvel at the Capability Brown landscaped grounds.
