About

Stansted Park is a Grade II listed country house, home to the Earls of Bessborough since 1924. Situated in a beautiful 18th century park and part of the South Downs National Park, it lies on the Sussex/Hampshire border and includes stunning State Rooms and a superb example of an Edwardian servants’ quarters.

The House reveals the history of the Ponsonby family who have served as politicians, soldiers, sailors, courtiers and diplomats for 500 years. The collection of art and furniture includes some of Jean Etienne Liotard’s best works, exotic bird paintings by Dutch masters, 18th century tapestries and decorative arts from the Schreiber Collection.

Other attractions include the unique Chapel of St Paul, woodland walks, Arboretum and Gardens, Tea Rooms, Garden Centre, Farm Shop, Maze and Miniature Railway.

The Grounds are open all year, but the House and Chapel are open from Easter-September, 1pm – 5pm, Sunday - Wednesday

School visits and pre-booked group visits are always very welcome.
