About

This beautiful island has become an icon for Cornwall and has magnificent views of Mount's Bay from its summit. There the church and castle, whose origins date from the 12th century, have at various times acted as a Benedictine priory, a place of pilgrimage, a fortress, a mansion house and now a magnet for visitors from all over the world. Following the Civil War, the island was acquired by the St Aubyn family who still live in the castle today.

Parking on mainland (not NT). Dogs not permitted in the castle or gardens. For a full events calendar throughout the season, please check the website. Suitablity for the Disabled: Partial. WCs. Refreshments/Cafe/Tearoom: Licensed. Restaurant: Licensed. Guided Tours: By arrangement. Tel for details. Parking: On mainland, including coach parking (not NT.) 3 miles East of Penzance. Bus: Penzance to Helston or St Ives - all pass Penzance Train Station.
Rail: Penzance train station is 3 miles
Boat: At high tide, St Michael's Mount can be reached by small boats that shuttle people back and forth.
