Magnificent palatial mansion and park with an internationally important art collection The vast late 17th-century mansion is set in a beautiful 283-hectare (700-acre) deer park, landscaped by 'Capability' Brown and immortalised in Turner's paintings.

Inside, the mansion contains the National Trust's finest collection of pictures, with numerous works by Turner, Van Dyck, Reynolds and Blake, ancient and Neo-classical sculpture, fine furniture and carvings by Grinling Gibbons.

The servants' quarters contain fascinating kitchens (including a copper batterie de cuisine of more than 1,000 pieces) and other service rooms.

Events & Exhibitions throughout the year. Baby feeding and changing facilities, highchairs, pushchairs admitted in House but no prams please. Suitablity for the Disabled: WCs. Refreshments/Cafe/Tearoom: Licensed. Restaurant: Licensed. Guided Tours: By arrangement. Audio Tours Audio House Tours. Parking: 800 yards from house. Coach parties alight at Church Lodge entrance, coaches then park in NT car park. Coaches must book in advance. Suitability for Dogs: Guide dogs only.

In the centre of Petworth. Approach on the A272 / A283 / A285 Roads. Car park is signposted.
Free parking for National Trust members, for non-members £4 car parking fee.
Stagecoach bus no1 route from Midhurst via Petworth and Pulborough to Worthing.
Compass bus no 76 from Horsham to Petworth.

The nearest railway station is Pulborough, which is 5 miles away.
