About

"Ightham Mote is like an island in time. Within its walls, a single life is only a brief thing and a whole century is little more than a pause.”

Surrounded by a moat, Ightham Mote has a quirky charm of its own. Dating from 1320, it was home to medieval knights, Tudor courtiers, High Society Victorians and an American businessman. It isn't a place of grand avenues and imposing vistas, but a family home, which evokes a deep sense of history throughout its different styles. Surrounding the house are peaceful gardens comprising herbaceous borders, an orchard, lake and pleasure grounds.
