The Norfolk Mead Hotel

About

Anna & James Holliday took over The Norfolk Mead in early 2013 and have transformed the hotel, winning several awards for cuisine and hospitality. The 16 contemporarily refurbished bedrooms are named after hedgerow plants and herbs which can be foraged for in Norfolk; Samphire, Mulberry, Hawthorn, Sorrel and so on. Four suites have free standing baths in the rooms and the other twelve have large 'rain' showers. There are also three outside Summer House Suites and the Sweet Chestnut and Blackberry Cottages in the grounds, perfect for families. James and Anna both come from catering backgrounds and Anna also runs Anna Duttson Events, catering for outside events and receptions.

The 'garden room' opened in the grounds in 2014. It can cater for up to 150 wedding or corporate guests.

The Norfolk Mead also added the Treatment Rooms in 2014, offering spa treatments including massage, facials, manicures, pedicures and much more.

The 2AA (rosette) menu, which changes monthly, uses local produce wherever possible. For Dinner we started with confit of Duck, followed by a superb turbot dish, with mash potato, cockles, fennel and saffron veloute. We finished with a sinful Banana Parfait with candied nuts. Bar snacks are available from 12.00 to 5.00pm. Breakfast was equally delicious with home baked bread, jams and cereals and the Mead is also very popular for afternoon teas.

The hotel's front lawn leads to The Mead with wild flowers and birdlife. You might see a barn owl or an otter playing. There are splendid walks from the village and the hotel has both a rowing boat and an English Harbour Yacht for hire.

The Norfolk Mead was named Signpost Hotel of the year in February 2015.

Cycle storage available. We also have an exclusive day boat that can be booked for either a half or full day between March and November to use on the River Bure. Only 20 minutes from the coast and Norwich city centre.
