The Cavendish Hotel

About

There has been an Inn here for so long that it is uncertain when it was built. Originally the Peacock Inn owned by the Duke of Rutland, it became the property of the Duke of Devonshire (and still is) in 1830. Becoming the Cavendish in the early 1970's it has been operated since 1975 by Eric Marsh, latterly with Philip Joseph under contract on behalf of Chatsworth Estates.

A closely knit team is dedicated to looking after guests as individuals, not merely room numbers. The hotel exudes a quiet elegance, with extensive artworks and antiques and regular refurbishment work. The bathrooms have all been refurbished to a very high quality. The two AA Rosette awarded dining room is overseen by Chef Alan Hill.

Added to this, all bedrooms have glorious views over Chatsworth Estate and the result is that elusive element - tranquillity.

Open all year.
