Northcote Manor

Northcote Manor is a manor house of 18th century origins, hidden in the heart of the North Devon countryside in a milieu of timeless tranquility, reflecting its monastic origins. It sits in 20 acres of mature woodlands, lawns and gardens, including a walled secret garden, apple orchards and a Japanese water garden. There is an aura of quiet relaxed sophistication throughout which makes award winning Northcote ideal for a short break. Guests leave with their batteries recharged and ready to face the world again after a bit of self-indulgent escapism.

The focus is on real comfort, excellent cuisine and attentive yet discreet service. The 16 luxuriously appointed bedrooms fall into three categories: Suites with views over the walled garden; Superior - spacious and some on the ground floor, ideal for dog walking and Classic, some with shower only. All rooms come with fresh fruit, mints and home made shortbread provided.

The AA Two Rosette fine dining restaurant offers a seasonal menu of the best that North Devon can deliver, under the supervision of chef-patron Richie Herkes. Starter might be Cornish Crab Cakes, followed by Breast of Crediton Aylesbury Duckling or Brixham Grey Mullet, and finishing with a Northcote Manor Blackberry Souffle.

Local attractions abound: golf, fishing on the river Taw, riding and nearby National Trust houses as well as RHS Rosemoor and the foodie heaven of Barnstaple covered market. The little hill town of Chulmleigh with its ruined castle and 1633 Barnstaple Inn is nearby, as well as the sandy beaches of Croyde Bay and Morte Bay.
