Maison Talbooth

About

Maison Talbooth is a Victorian house which has been owned by the Milsom family for over 40 years and is now one of the leading hotels of East Anglia. It is situated on the Essex/Suffolk border, ½ mile from the picturesque village of Dedham and overlooking the beautiful Dedham Vale, famous Constable country.

There are 12 comfortable bedrooms divided into four categories: principal suites, deluxe suites, superior suites and standard suites. All have marble bathrooms, bedrooms with flat screen TVs, minibars, goose feather duvets, Egyptian cotton sheets, huge upholstered headboards and large mirrors.

The top floor has a Spa with two double treatment rooms and a single treatment room. As well as a tennis court, there is a swimming pool in the grounds, with changing rooms and showers, decked area and a hot tub. Guests can enjoy a cocktail or snack lunch by the pool, relax by a log fire or enjoy a pre or post dinner drink.

There is also a beautifully appointed Garden Room for afternoon tea and light lunches. Serious eating happens at Le Talbooth, the 2 AA rosette restaurant which is only a minute away in the hotel's Range Rover. The 16th century timber framed building was formerly a toll booth. Outside guests can sit under a huge architectural sail on the terrace beside the river Stour. An idyllic setting for weddings and functions.

Spa breaks and family breaks are available. See website.

Open all year.
