Bridge House Hotel

BridgeHouse us one of the most characterful of Dorset hotels. The House on the Bridge' is a 700-year of former seminary deep in Thomas Hardy's Wessex. Owners Mark and Joanna Donovan have created an unpretentious home from home atmostphere, bringing the historic house into the 21st century with modern bathrooms, WiFi, flat screen TVs and Frette' linen in every room. The AA two rosette Beaminster Brasserie draws clientele from a wide radius, anxious to sample the freshly caught fish, organic, local meat fruit and vegetables from West Dorset's ample larder all around. Nearby is the World Heritage Site - The Jurassic Coast - 95 miles of unspoiled coast with 185 million years of fossil history. Stunning Abbotsbury with its sub-tropical gardens, swannery and children's farm is a short drive away. Nearer to the hotel are the stately terraced gardens of Mapperton House. A great centre for walking, BridgeHouse shares the same stretch of river Brit as that featured in Channel 4's River Cottage series. Dorset's Tourism Hotel of the Year 2013/14 is surrounded by some of Dorset's most spectacular countryside. Open All Year
