Bridge Hill House

About

Bridge Hill House sits high above the Derwent Valley in Belper, overlooking The Derwent Mills World Heritage site, one of the landmarks of the Industrial Revolution. Stephen & Caroline opened 34a as a B&B in September 2014. The many attractions of the town, including the North Mill Museum, the river garden with rowing boats, good restaurants and friendly pubs, are all within walking distance. It has a modern interior, with bedrooms on the ground floor and the dining/breakfast room and spacious sitting room on the first floor. Breakfast and tea can be taken on the outside terrace in fine weather. Homemade cakes and tea are offered to guests on arrival.

The four sumptuous guest rooms (three with super-king beds divisible in two and one king size) are named after local families, such as Arkwright and Strutt. The Strutt family, on whose estate these houses were built, invented the Derby Weave. Three of the en suite bathrooms have bath & separate shower cubicles and all provide bathrobes and Cole & Lewis toiletries.

Award winning breakfast is taken in the modern communal open plan kitchen/dining area. A wide choice of dishes is available, freshly cooked to order and using local produce, such as Derbyshire oatcakes and honey. Special diets are catered for.

Stephen will plan both a local or national escorted tour for his guests by prior arrangement, under the name BHH Tours. Belper is well placed for visiting the many historic houses in the area, including Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Kedleston, Melborne Hall, Bolsover Castle and Tissington Hall.
