Barnsdale Lodge Hotel

Overlooking Rutland Water and the undulating hills of England's smallest county, this former 17th century farmhouse, adjacent to the estate of the Earl of Gainsborough, is an idyllic retreat for anyone wishing to escape.

Lovingly restored, Barnsdale Lodge is located to the north of the market town of Oakham, with its market square and specialist boutiques and shops. (Market days are on Wednesdays and Saturdays).

Bedrooms offer complete relaxation. Two are specially designed for disabled guests, some are interconnecting or four-poster and many offer views towards Rutland Water. There is also 17 self-catering retreats enjoying concierge service from the hotel.

Dining is in one of three dining rooms, the conservatory or, weather permitting, in the courtyard garden and this year a smart Garden Room extension to the restaurant has been added which can seat 18 in comfort. All are usually full of local, contented diners. Eggs, herbs and vegetables come from the hotel's own hens and vegetable garden. The cosy sitting room and garden room is also available for guests use and there is a meadow walk (for dogs) and Highland cattle to observe.

Conferences and product launches, wedding receptions and private parties are catered for and take place in the separate Banqueting Suite.
Glow, the hotel's hair salon, offers the ultimate in relaxation and pampering.

There is a wealth of activities in the area including sailing, windsurfing and cycling. Geoff Hamilton’s Barnsdale Gardens, Belton House (NT) are close by and the market towns of Uppingham and Stamford; market day on Friday.

Pets fee £10 per night.
