Background information:

Situated near the picturesque Malvern Hills, Little Malvern Court is a captivating historic estate with a story stretching back to the 12th century. Originally part of a Benedictine priory, the house has been the home of the Berington family since the Dissolution of the Monasteries, and today offers visitors a rare glimpse into centuries of English heritage.

A 15th-Century Priors’ Hall and Timeless Interiors

The house features a remarkable 15th-century Priors’ Hall, complete with an oak-framed roof, five-bay double-collared structure, and two tiers of cusped wind braces. Victorian additions by architect Hansom complement the historic core, creating an elegant blend of architectural styles. Inside, visitors can admire family and European paintings, antique furniture, and collections of 18th- and 19th-century needlework and religious vestments, all preserved by generations of the Berington family. The nearby Little Malvern Priory Church is also open to visitors, enriching the estate’s historic experience.

Gardens and Scenic Grounds

Set within 10 acres of former monastic grounds, the gardens were newly landscaped in the early 1980s and offer a tranquil retreat for visitors. Designed as a series of “garden rooms” around the house, the estate features a water garden that flows into a chain of lakes, wide-ranging spring bulbs, old-fashioned roses, and a variety of shrubs and trees. The grounds provide magnificent views over the Severn Valley, making the gardens a haven of peace and beauty throughout the seasons.
