A Family Home Rich in History and Craftsmanship

Leighton Hall is renowned for its Objets d’art and stunning pieces of Gillow furniture, many of which can be explored without barriers. Visitors are welcomed at the front door by friendly guides, and tours are informal, allowing guests to touch and interact with objects, climb the “Flying Staircase,” sit at the telescopic Gillow dining table, and even play the Steinway piano in the music room. Every visit offers a chance to unravel the fascinating past of this historic Lancashire family.

Gardens, Woodland Walks, and Outdoor Activities

The estate’s gardens include ornamental vegetable plots, herb garden pavilions, and an abundant 19th-century walled garden. Woodland walks, playful children’s trails, and areas such as the bee corner, insect hotel, tree-face trail, and caterpillar maze provide hours of outdoor exploration. Visitors can enjoy peaceful moments in the landscaped grounds or join in seasonal activities, including the famous Birds of Prey displays*, held daily during the summer season.

Events, Workshops, and Special Experiences

Leighton Hall hosts a wide range of special events and workshops throughout the year, including the Classic and Performance Motor Show, Shakespeare in the Garden, Tennants Valuation Days, Motorcycle Hill Climb, and seasonal family events. In August, children can participate in a free Teddy Bear Hunt, making the estate a perfect destination for families.

Tea Rooms and Visitor Amenities

Leighton Hall’s charming tea rooms, set in the original Victorian kitchens, offer a quintessential English afternoon tea experience, complete with porcelain cups and fresh flowers. Visitors can relax after exploring the house, gardens, and grounds, making it an all-encompassing heritage day out.
