Why Visit Lamport Hall?
A Rich Historical Legacy
Lamport Hall was home to the Isham family from 1560 to 1976, one of Northamptonshire’s oldest families. The Hall’s collections have remained virtually untouched over the centuries, providing a fascinating snapshot of life in a country house. Visitors can see the treasures collected by Sir Thomas Isham on his Grand Tour as a young, profligate Baronet, and explore the architectural changes made by two influential wives in the 19th century. The Hall’s architecture is of great importance, showcasing contributions by John Webb and Smith of Warwick.
Stunning Gardens and Grounds
Set within approximately 10 acres of beautifully maintained gardens, Lamport Hall offers a variety of horticultural delights. Visitors can explore the walled garden, woodland walks, and the restored Corner Spinney with its charming summerhouse. The gardens reflect centuries of care and design, open from March to October, with house tours available on select days.
Architectural Elegance
The Hall’s classical façade is complemented by opulent interiors, including the grand state rooms and the impressive Great Hall. Each room tells the story of generations of the Isham family, offering a captivating insight into the past.
Many events are held at Lamport Hall throughout the year, including study days, art exhibitions, Maker’s Market, and Christmas Markets. We welcome enquiries for group bookings, small weddings, and corporate events.
