Background information:

Nestled in the picturesque village of Hovingham, Hovingham Hall is a striking Palladian family home designed and built around 1760 by Thomas Worsley. Steeped in heritage, the house is best known as the childhood home of Katherine Worsley, Duchess of Kent, giving it a royal connection as well as an enduring family history. Today, the estate continues to welcome visitors, offering a rare glimpse into centuries of English country life.

A Grand Entrance Like No Other

Visitors enter the hall through its remarkable Riding School, a unique architectural feature that sets Hovingham apart from other country houses. This striking space immediately immerses guests in the hall’s rich past and reflects Thomas Worsley’s passion for equestrian pursuits and design.

Elegant Rooms and Family Collections

Inside, Hovingham Hall reveals a series of beautifully proportioned rooms filled with family collections of fine furniture, paintings, and decorative objects. Each room tells part of the Worsley family story, showcasing generations of taste, heritage, and artistic appreciation.

Gardens of Beauty and Character

The estate’s gardens provide a tranquil setting with their sweeping lawns, magnificent Yew hedges, and seasonal plantings. They perfectly frame the architecture of the house while offering peaceful corners for reflection and leisurely strolls.
