Background information:

A Historic Home with Character
Askham Hall is a 13th-century Grade I listed Pele Tower house with over 1,000 years of history, still owned by the Lowther family for more than 200 years. Far from a conventional country house hotel, it is a bohemian-style home-from-home, blending historic charm with modern luxury. Guests are welcomed into a lived-in, atmospheric property where every corner reflects the estate’s unique story and centuries of life.

Accommodation and Interiors
The hall offers 19 individually designed bedrooms, each combining original historic features with contemporary furnishings. From cozy hideaways to grand suites, each room provides a luxurious and comfortable base for exploring the Lake District. Outdoor spaces include a pool, hot tub, and extensive gardens, all set against panoramic views of the River Lowther and surrounding fells.

Michelin-Starred Dining
Food and drink are at the heart of Askham Hall. Head chef Richard Swale crafts exquisite dishes using home-grown and wild produce from the estate, earning a Michelin star and 4 AA rosettes. Guests can enjoy seasonal menus, expertly prepared and presented, reflecting the estate’s commitment to exceptional culinary experiences.

Heritage and Landscape
The estate immerses visitors in a rich tapestry of history and nature. Explore the Pele Tower, historic kitchen gardens, and the River Lowther after which the owners were named. Beyond the house, visitors can wander the open expanses of Askham Fell, discover ancient stone circles and Roman roads, or visit nearby historic houses and castles. The estate’s meadows are home to native shorthorn cattle, red deer, and rare breed pigs, while the well-stocked wine cellar provides the perfect complement to a day spent on the estate.

A Unique Lake District Experience
Askham Hall offers more than just a stay, it provides a deep sense of place. From heritage and historic architecture to nature and exceptional cuisine, every element is part of an immersive experience. Whether guests are seeking relaxation, exploration, or indulgence, Askham Hall delivers a Lake District retreat unlike any other.
