Wotton House is a historic estate in Buckinghamshire, renowned for its beautiful Capability Brown Pleasure Grounds, family heritage, and picturesque landscapes. While the house itself is not open to the public, visitors can explore the restored grounds and enjoy a taste of English garden design at its finest.
The Pleasure Grounds at Wotton were laid out by the famous landscape architect Capability Brown between 1750 and 1767. Originally part of the Grenville family estate and related to the nearby Stowe gardens, these grounds showcase Brown’s signature style with sweeping lawns, strategically placed trees, and man-made features including bridges, temples, and statues. The three-mile circuit offers a tranquil walk with delightful vistas and opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty and historic design.
Only the Pleasure Grounds are open to the public, with guided tours available by arrangement. The estate provides limited parking for coaches, and dogs are welcome on leads. Visitors can wander at their own pace, take in the restored features, and enjoy a peaceful day immersed in heritage and landscape.
