Wilton House has been the seat of the Earls of Pembroke since the 1540s and remains a vibrant family home. Visitors can explore 17th-century interiors, a world-famous art collection, and the Sculpture Gallery, all filled with over 460 years of Pembroke family history. Since 1544, when Henry VIII granted the buildings and land to Sir William Herbert, Wilton House has been deeply connected to England’s political and artistic circles while also providing homes and employment for estate workers, a tradition that continues today. The 17th Earl began a major programme of restoration and improvement, a task carried on by the current Earl.
