There are two lounges to relax in, both with log fires in winter and the conservatory offers a bright seating area to watch the world go by. The main restaurant has dramatic views over Dartmoor to Haytor Rocks and head chef Mike O’Donnell presides in this stunning setting and has been at the hotel for 15 years where he is the proud holder of 2 AA rosettes. For more informal dining the hotel has its own bistro, the Blue Tiger, which has been furnished to resemble a traditional Dartmoor Pub. The hotel offers its own leisure facilities including indoor pool, spa, steam room, sauna and gymnasium. Ilsington village is dominated by the 12th century St Michael’s Church. Further afield are the riches of Dartmoor’s tors, open moorland and dramatic wooded valleys, fishing, golf and gardens to visit.
